Job Summary
The Medical Officer Plays a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and assisting in surgical and non-surgical management of patients in the Maxillofacial, Facial Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery Centre. The role involves managing a wide range of maxillofacial and facial conditions. The Medical Officer is also responsible for the preoperative and postoperative care, participation in clinical research, and continuous professional development.
Educational Requirements
Possess a Primary Medical Degree, MBBS or equivalent, that is recognized by the Brunei Medical Board.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year post-internship clinical experience, preferable in surgery, maxillofacial surgery, or related specialties.
- Experience in assisting with minor and major surgical procedures is an advantage.
- Prior exposure to maxillofacial, plastic, or reconstructive surgery will be an added advantage.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Patient Care and Clinical Responsibilities:
- Assist in diagnosing and managing patients with maxillofacial, facial plastic, and reconstructive surgical conditions
- Conduct patients' assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Assis in emergency cases involving maxillofacial trauma and provide appropriate initial management.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, surgical procedures, and post-surgical care.
- Surgical Assistance and Procedural Responsibilities
- Scrub in and assist in various surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques.
- Perform minor surgical and non-surgical procedures under the supervision of consultants
- Assist in managing complications arising from surgical interventions
- Administrative and Research Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including progress notes an discharge summaries
- Assist in preparing medical reports and case presentations for department meetings.
- participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and department research activities.
- attend departmental meetings, case discussions, and continuing medical education (CME) sessions.
