Job Summary
The Engineer plans, coordinates and oversees the maintenance, fault diagnosis and technical improvement of assigned vehicles, equipment and engineering systems. The role ensures assets remain safe, compliant, reliable and cost-effective while providing technical guidance, maintaining engineering records and supporting operational, training and facility requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programmes for assigned vehicles, equipment and systems.
- Diagnose faults, assess defects and recurring failures, and coordinate timely repairs, recovery or technical support, including emergency call-outs where required.
- Prepare or review technical scopes, specifications, drawings, calculations, reports and acceptance criteria within the Engineer’s area of competence.
- Conduct root-cause analysis, reliability and lifecycle assessments, and recommend corrective actions, modifications or repair-versus-replace solutions.
- Provide technical input for procurement, vendor evaluation, installation, overhaul, replacement, upgrading, testing and commissioning activities.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to technicians and mechanics, including work allocation, quality checking, performance monitoring and knowledge transfer.
- Maintain accurate maintenance schedules, service histories, technical drawings, equipment manuals, inspection records, fleet utilisation data and as-built information.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, manufacturer standards, HSE requirements and ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 controls.
- Manage technical requirements for spare parts, tools and consumables, including specifications, stock monitoring, procurement requisitions and vendor coordination.
- Prepare maintenance budgets, cost estimates, asset-condition reports and performance reports covering downtime, reliability, utilisation and maintenance KPIs.
- Coordinate with Unit Heads, OEMs, vendors, government authorities and relevant internal stakeholders on technical, operational and compliance matters.
- Monitor changes in engineering standards, equipment obsolescence and emerging technical risks, and escalate matters requiring specialist or approving-authority review.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge relevant to the assigned engineering discipline, including vehicle and mobile-equipment systems or electrical and electromechanical systems.
- Engineering analysis, fault diagnosis, structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
- Sound judgement in evaluating technical risks, maintenance requirements and repair-versus-replace options.
- Ability to plan and coordinate maintenance schedules, technical documentation, spare parts and asset records.
- Supervisory, teamwork and interpersonal skills, including the ability to guide maintenance personnel and coordinate with vendors and stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of applicable safety, quality, environmental, regulatory and manufacturer requirements, including ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Digital and data literacy for maintenance-management systems, technical reporting, asset traceability and reliability monitoring.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Melayu.
- Integrity, procedural discipline and responsible management of Company tools, assets, records and information.
Qualifications and Experiences

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical, Mechatronic Engineering or another engineering discipline relevant to the assigned unit.

Minimum five (5) years of relevant engineering or maintenance experience involving vehicle/fleet systems or electrical/electromechanical systems.

Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, fault diagnosis, technical reporting and coordination with maintenance personnel, vendors and operational stakeholders.
