Job Description
The Facility Planning Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, governance, and delivery of company-wide facility projects, including refurbishments, renovations, upgrades, and sustainability-driven initiatives. The role develops multi-year facilities project roadmaps, aligns capital projects with business and operational strategies, and ensures projects are delivered safely, sustainably, on time, and within budget. This position provides leadership to the facilities projects team and ensures consistent standards across all sites.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Develops and maintains a short, medium, and long-term facilities project roadmap, aligned with business growth, asset lifecycle planning, and sustainability objectives
- Manages planning, budgeting, design, consultant and contractor selection, pre-construction, tender clarification, construction management, quality assurance, closeout and project turnover for operations and maintenance
- Leads cross-functional teams in space planning and implement flexible workspaces to accommodate evolving working patterns, optimizing functionality while fostering environments that promote productivity and well-being
- Translates organizational strategy into annual capital expenditure (CAPEX) plans, prioritizing projects based on risk, compliance, operational needs, and return on investment
- Proactively identifies project risks and issues; develops and implements mitigation strategies to minimize impact while ensuring risks are within the risk tolerance of UNN
- Champions environmental sustainability by implementing green practices, energy efficiency, and sustainable resource management to reduce carbon footprint and contribute to environmental conservation
- Provides leadership, inspirations and guidance and serves as a key decision-maker in facility planning related matters
- Ensures all project activities are compliant with internal policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations
- Plans and manages project schedules, milestones, and deliverables while managing the work of consultants and utilizing strategies to prevent project creep
- Engages senior management and stakeholders to align expectations, priorities, and delivery outcomes
- Reviews, validates and approves tender documentation, including AutoCAD drawings, layouts, specifications, BoQ and ensures accuracy, compliance and meets stakeholders requirements prior to issuance
- Conducts feasibility studies, site assessments, and technical evaluations to define project scope and requirements
- Provides technical oversight of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical designs throughout project stages
- Manages the document administration of as-built drawings and specifications for building
- Adheres to Workplace Safety and Health Act, Chapter 277 and UNN HSE management system framework both within and beyond the office premises
- Drives continuous improvement by recommending cost-effective solutions, design enhancements, and best practices
- Provides support by taking additional responsibilities as needed and assist the Head of Facility Management by stepping in during their absence

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Building Services or relevant areas and equivalent working experience.
