Job Description
The Head of PMO strategizes, manages, and governs multiple projects (programs and project portfolios) in alignment with the organization's strategic business planning across domains.
The Head of PMO ensures the successful implementation of these initiatives by managing cross-domain requirements, dependencies, and risks, as well as overseeing the overall budget, resource management, stakeholder management, and communications. The role also oversees the monitoring and management of corporate KPIs and UNN's strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment between program delivery and the organization wide strategic objectives.
The Head of PMO is also responsible for leading and managing the PMO team by providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects within agreed performance parameters (time, scope, cost, resources, risks, quality, and benefits). This includes ensuring timely and quality service reporting, effective tracking of corporate KPI performance, and the proper transition of services to operations. These efforts support the achievement of UNN's strategic goals.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Develops and continuously improve a standardized Project Management Framework
- Identifies, assesses and manages risks and dependencies while supporting projects throughout full lifecycle
- Provides oversight and assurance on project performance to ensure quality delivery, compliance with PMO standards, and alignment with intended outcomes and benefits
- Acts as the strategic link between project teams and sponsors, ensuring governance, alignment, and stakeholder commitment to organizational objectives
- Defines and evaluates project portfolio requirements, ensuring clear scope, timeline, cost, resources, risks, quality, and benefits before handover to Project Managers
- Governs projects using established frameworks and processes
- Manages and controls project changes to ensure continued alignment with objectives, outcomes and benefits
- Oversees end-to-end program delivery, managing scope, schedule, budget, and risks across B$2M - B$20M portfolio annually
- Prepares and presents project reports and updates to stakeholders (SMT and Board) where required
- Provides status reports on key milestones, achievements, and risks to support decision-making, especially for strategic initiatives and KPIs
- Maintains a centralized project repository and guide Project Managers in adopting standardized tools, methodologies, and report practices
- Ensures compliance with PMO governance standards and disciplined project execution across stakeholders
- Assigns projects to suitable Project Managers based on expertise, while maintaining a talent profile of team capabilities
- Manages the division's budget across projects, ensuring alignment with financial standards and coordination with relevant departments
- Conducts performance reviews, providing guidance, feedback, and development support to team members
- Leads PMO team to ensure adherence to company policies while promoting a balance and productive work environment
- Mentors and coaches team members, including junior staff, through structured development and knowledge-sharing practices
- Participates in or assigns PMO representatives to tender committees, ensuring aligment with commercial, technical, and delivery objectives
- Ensures compliance with Health and Safety policies, proactively addressing any unsafe practices
Competencies
- Program Management and Project Management (Ideally certified in PMI-PgMP, PMI-PMP, PRINCE or similar)
- Project Management Support Tools
- Business and Operations Processes such as complaints/query/dispute resolution
- Expert Knowledge of Business Processes
- Highly experienced in managing multi-million BN$ projects
- Excellent Interpersonal, Communication and Time Management Skills
- Written and Spoken English
Area and Years of Experience
- Management of Multiple Projects and Large Scale Programs with 10 years of experience
- IT/Technical Environment (Ideally Telecommunication Industry) with 5 years of hands-on experience
- Business Acumen with 5 years of experience
Education
Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Technology Management or relevant areas and equivalent working experience.
