Job Summary
The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimising inventory operations, ensuring adequate stock levels to meet business plan and needs without overstocking or stockouts.
Job Description
- Collaborate with other departments in aligning inventory strategies and functions with organisational goals and operations.
- Manage all stocks by ensuring the proper recording, storage and handling of raw materials and finished products, and coordinating with various departments to maintain seamless operations and ensure the accuracy of inventory records.
- Forecast inventory needs by analysing sales trends, demand patterns, and operational data to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely stock delivery, negotiate terms, and resolve supply chain issues.
- Conduct and oversee periodic inventory audits, ensuring consistency in stocktake programs and compliance with organisational procedures.
- Prepare and present detailed inventory reports, including performance metrics, variances, and recommendations for optimisation.
- Implement cost-effective inventory practices to minimise wastage and support organisational sustainability.
- Monitor and optimise inventory workflows, addressing discrepancies and operational challenges to improve efficiency.
- Develop and maintain inventory management systems to track stock levels, orders, deliveries, and transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct review and recommend inventory system improvements and implement updates to enhance functionality.
- Adhere to applicable health, safety, and regulatory standards in all inventory management practices.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or relevant roles.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data for inventory forecasting.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is an advantage.
- Professional certification in Inventory Management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CIPS) is an advantage.
