Job Description

To provide accurate and efficient legal services to relevant stakeholders while supporting the Head of Legal to materialize the Legal department's objectives as its contribution towards the company's business operations in an effective manner. 

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Legal Framework: Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of  contracts including supplier contracts (Procurement), commercial contracts (domestic business), and employment contracts
  • Policy Review: Reviewing organizational policies including existing policies that may be to Data Protection laws, international laws and other applicable laws required by external contracts entered into with parties from other jurisdications
  • IT Services: Main focal legal representative for innovation matters, IT Services related matters specifically under SPU, and non-SalesCos customers which includes overseeing contracts as well as optimizing processes
  • Support Role to Corporate Secretary: with Board resolutions, preparation of Board materials, filing of company records on OCP, ensuring execution of the necessary corporate documentations to convene AGM or EGM and other administrative matters
  • Audit & Governance: Ensure any gaps under audit (internal and external) are addressed in a timely manner through effective collaboration with relevant clients including Commercial (International for vendor onboarding), Finance (annual audit works by appointed Auditor and Government auditor, if any), Operations (to uphold ISO certifications), Shareholder (GLC audit exercises) and others as may be iniaited from time to time
  • Optimizing Processes: Primary responsibility for ensuring legal processes are documented, digitialized, revised and current by collaborating with Knowledge Management. To identify new areas of streamlining legal processes, from time to time
  • Regulatory Support: Contributes to the role of Data Protection Officer under the Personal Data Protection Order thus requiring comprehensive understanding of the law in this area in order to enforce certain practices within the Company through policy making. Assists the Regulatory team on any interpretations required from enforceable directives and regulations issued by AITI and its relevant agencies such as MTIC
  • Legal Visibility: Providing awareness on the legal functions internally through trainings, knowledge exhibitions, UNN's social platforms, newsletters, creating processes etc.

Competencies

  • Understanding of the practical application of the law
  • Ability to interpret and translate the law and regulations into commercial and operations actions for compliance
  • Understanding of the workings of the Telco/ICT industry and the regulations applicable to the industry
  • Understanding risks in contracts to effectively participate in negotiations
  • Managing procurement contracts with suppliers and vendors related to the company's operations and facilities
  • Applying the necessary legal framework to cross-border commercial contracts concerning international parties/assets
  • Developing or reviewing internal policies to ensure alignment with local labor laws

Area and Years of Experience

  • Professional experience as a Corporate Legal Officer overseeing particular matters related to all areas under company laws including contract, tort, advisory, and neogitations with 3 years of experience
  • Serving as Corporate Secretary function with 2 years of experience

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Law or relevant areas and equivalent working experience.
