Job Summary

The primary purpose of a Product Development Manager is to drive commercial growth by identifying market opportunities and leading the end-to-end creation, improvement, and launch of new products or services. 

This role acts as the strategic bridge connecting Finance, Human Resource, Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Technology. They ensure that new offerings such as premium retail services, B2B e-commerce fulfilment, or digital tracking APIs are financially viable, operationally sound, and highly competitive in the market.

Job Description

  • Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle from initial concept to commercial launch for new postal, logistics, and digital services.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback reviews to identify emerging trends and commercial opportunities in both Business-to-Business (B2B) andBusiness-to-Consumer (B2C) segments.
  • Build detailed financial business cases for proposed products, encompassing revenue forecasting, operational cost analysis, pricing structures, and projected Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Act as the central project lead, aligning Business Development, IT, Operations, and Finance to ensure new products are both operationally feasible and technically viable.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to map out physical workflows, sorting processes at the Mail Processing Centre (MPC), and last-mile delivery requirements for new service tiers.
  • Partner with IT to define system requirements and ensure the seamless integration of digital solutions, such as tracking APIs, consumer apps, and B2B client portals.
  • Coordinate dry-runs, pilot programs, and soft launches to identify and resolve operational bottlenecks or system bugs prior to a full-scale public release.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to define product positioning, distinct value propositions, and launch campaign strategies.
  • Develop comprehensive training materials and conduct product knowledge sessions for Customer Service, retail counter staff, and sales teams ahead of official rollouts.
  • Monitor post-launch performance metrics, collecting user feedback and operational data to continuously refine, upgrade, or troubleshoot active services.
  • Assess the viability of existing legacy postal services, managing the strategic phase-out or modernization of offerings that are no longer financially sustainable.
  • Ensure all newly developed products and digital services strictly comply with national postal regulations, safety standards, and data protection frameworks.

Required Functional Competencies

  • The ability to identify market gaps in logistics, e-commerce, and digital services, translating customer pain points into financially viable B2B and B2C product concepts.
  • Expertise in driving a new service from conceptualization and business case development through testing, dry-runs, and the official Go-Live.
  • Skill in building detailed financial business cases, defining competitive pricing structures, forecasting operational costs, and calculating projected Return on Investment (ROI).
  • The capability to define IT requirements and oversee the integration of digital solutions, such as tracking APIs, B2B client portals, and consumer apps.
  • Proficiency in aligning the physical logistics network with new digital services, mapping out sorting centerprocesses, mid-mile handovers, and last-mile delivery requirements.
  • High-level project management skills to seamlessly align IT, Operations, Finance, and Marketing to execute a product launch without necessarily having direct authoritative control over those departments.
  • The ability to translate complex service features into distinct value propositions and collaborate with Marketing and Communications team on product positioning.
  • Deep understanding of regulations, safety standards, and data protection frameworks to ensure all new physical and digital services remain legally compliant.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Information Technology, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in product management, product development, or commercial solution design preferably within logistics, postal services, e-commerce platforms, or express delivery networks.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, directly managing a team and reporting to senior management.
  • Proven track record of delivering commercial success and leading cross-functional teams.
