Job Summary
The Senior Legal Analyst supports the Legal & Compliance Manager in protecting PosBru’s legal and commercial interests through effective contract management, legal advisory and dispute management.
The role provides practical legal support to business functions, drafts and reviews commercial agreements, manages legal matters and supports corporate secretarial administration. The role also monitors legislative developments relevant to PosBru’s postal, logistics and commercial operations.
Job Description
- Draft, review, and negotiate a high volume of commercial contracts (e.g., e-commerce merchant contracts, airline cargo/transport agreements, cross-border postal treaties, vendor service level agreements, lease agreements, and government/GLC agency agreements).
- Provide prompt, pragmatic, and commercially sound legal advice to internal business units.
- Manage dispute resolution files and coordinate closely with external panel law firms where necessary.
- Assist the Company Secretary with corporate governance administration, board meeting documentation, and statutory compliance under applicable Brunei law.
- Keep abreast of legislative changes affecting postal, logistics, and commercial operations in Brunei Darussalam.
Required Functional Competencies
- Advanced contract drafting and commercial risk acumen.
- Excellent ability to collaborate with internal business units and translate complex legal concepts into clear business advice.
- High attention to detail, absolute integrity, and comfort working in a fast-paced, startup-like corporate environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) from a recognized university. (Admission to the Brunei Bar is an advantageous, though not mandatory, qualification).
- 3 to 5 years of total legal experience, with at least 3 years spent in-house within a corporate environment, GLC, financial institution, or a reputable law firm handling corporate/commercial portfolios.
- Strong experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to identify legal and contractual risks and provide practical business-oriented advice.
- Good understanding of corporate and commercial legal requirements.
- Strong legal research, drafting, analytical and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Exceptional proficiency in written and spoken English and Malay.
