Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, implement, and oversee maintenance schedules for vehicles under both long-term maintenance contracts and leasing projects.
- Coordinate and allocate workshop resources (staff, tools, parts) to ensure timely and efficient completion of maintenance work.
- Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are performed on time to avoid unscheduled downtime or breakdowns.
- Plan and execute reactive maintenance and repairs as required for leased vehicles or contract fleets.
Vehicle Inspection & Diagnostics
- Oversee vehicle inspections, ensuring that diagnostic work is carried out thoroughly to identify issues before they escalate.
- Ensure vehicles meet regulatory and safety standards before being returned to service.
- Monitor and troubleshoot recurring faults or issues within the vehicle fleet and liaise with manufacturers or external vendors as needed.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and supervise a team of workshop technicians, mechanics, and support staff, ensuring that all work is carried out to high standards.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members, ensuring that they are up to date with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Liaise with external vendors or manufacturers to resolve complex diagnostic and repair issues, escalating significant concerns to the Head of Unit.
Contract Management
- To understand maintenance requirements, SLAs, and warranty obligations for each fleet.
- Ensure leased vehicles are serviced and maintained according to leasing terms, minimizing risk at the end of lease periods.
- Regularly update the Head of Unit on maintenance activities, contract compliance, and vehicle availability.
Inventory & Cost Management
- Monitor and manage workshop inventory, including spare parts and consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels for planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Work with the Head of Unit to manage maintenance and repair budgets, tracking costs, and identifying opportunities for savings.
- Analyze maintenance costs and provide reports and recommendations to the Head of Unit for process improvement.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and manufacturer guidelines for vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain detailed records of all vehicle service, repairs, and maintenance work, ensuring up-to-date and accurate documentation.
- Prepare regular reports for management on vehicle maintenance performance, highlighting key areas such as downtime, repair frequency, and costs.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall fleet performance.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in vehicle maintenance and leasing management.
- Recommend enhancements to the maintenance planning process and adopt innovative solutions to optimize fleet availability.
Job Summary
This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the maintenance planning and servicing of vehicles under maintenance contracts and leasing projects. The role ensures efficient execution of maintenance schedules, repair tasks, and service work for both contract and leased vehicles, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance. The Workshop Supervisor manages workshop staff, liaises with external contractors, and ensures optimal resource allocation for all maintenance-related activities.
