POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
A Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency (Class 1 or Class 2), or equivalent maritime engineering qualification is desired.
Relevant training or certifications in shipbuilding, technical management, project management, asset management highly preferred.
Work Experience
Minimum 8–10 years' relevant experience in marine engineering, vessel maintenance, shipbuilding, ship repair, technical management, or commercial marine operations.
Demonstrated experience in tugboats, workboats, offshore support vessels, harbour craft, or similar commercial vessels.
Experience overseeing vessel construction, refurbishment, commissioning or technical acceptance is advantageous.
Practical experience coordinating with shipyards, equipment manufacturers, contractors and maritime authorities.
Strong knowledge of planned maintenance systems, vessel technical documentation, machinery reliability and lifecycle asset management.
Experience managing technical projects, maintenance budgets and contractor performance.
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Knowledge
Strong knowledge of marine engineering, vessel systems and commercial marine operations.
Practical understanding of tugboat, workboat or similar vessel construction and maintenance.
Ability to review engineering drawings, vessel specifications and technical documentation.
Good understanding of vessel inspections, testing, commissioning, maintenance and repair processes.
Working knowledge of applicable maritime regulations, classification requirements and Brunei’s regulatory environment.
Skills

Strong analytical, technical problem-solving and decision-making ability.
Good understanding of technical procurement, spare parts and vendor coordination.
Ability to manage technical budgets, risks, priorities and project timelines.

Ability to work independently and take accountability for important technical matters
