Job Summary

Purpose of the Role

To deliver, manage, and ensure high-quality simulation-based training for small arms and maritime operations in accordance with approved doctrines, safety standards, and operational requirements. The role supports capability development for defence, security, and maritime personnel through professional instruction, assessment, and operational oversight.

Training Instructor positions are as listed below:

  • Instructor Level 1 (SImulation Training Centre & PAJ)
  • Small Arms Instructor
  • Coxswain Instructor
  • Gunnery Instructor
  • Navigation Instructor

Job Description

1. Instructor Level 1 (Simulation Training Centre & PAJ)

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the Simulation Training Centre and Paintball Arena Jerudong (PAJ).

Supervise, mentor, and coordinate all instructors assigned to simulation and PAJ operations.

Ensure training delivery complies with approved SOPs, safety standards, and operational doctrines.

Plan, schedule, and coordinate training programmes, exercises, and instructor deployment.

Conduct instructor performance evaluations and recommend training improvements.

Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and management on training matters.

Ensure proper maintenance, readiness, and safe use of simulation systems and training equipment.

Prepare operational reports, training summaries, and incident reports when required.

2. Small Arms Instructor

Key Responsibilities

Conduct simulation and practical training on small arms handling, marksmanship, and tactical employment.

Deliver training on weapon safety, weapon systems operation, and engagement techniques.

Assess trainee performance and provide constructive feedback and remediation.

Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations during all training activities.

Assist in developing and updating training curricula and lesson plans.

Maintain training weapons, simulators, and related equipment in serviceable condition.

3. Coxswain Instructor

Key Responsibilities

Deliver instruction on small boat handling, seamanship, and coxswain duties.

Conduct simulation and practical training for maritime manoeuvring, boat operations, and safety procedures.

Train personnel on emergency procedures, navigation basics, and vessel command responsibilities.

Evaluate trainees’ operational competence and readiness.

Ensure compliance with maritime safety standards and training SOPs.

4. Gunnery Instructor

Key Responsibilities

Conduct training on naval or maritime gunnery systems using simulation and practical platforms.

Deliver instruction on weapon operation, firing procedures, target engagement, and safety protocols.

Supervise live or simulated firing exercises in accordance with approved safety rules.

Assess trainee proficiency and maintain accurate training records.

Support development of gunnery training programmes and scenarios.

5. Navigation Instructor

Key Responsibilities

Deliver instruction on maritime navigation, including chart work, passage planning, and rules of the road.

Conduct simulation-based navigation exercises and scenario training.

Train personnel on navigation equipment, procedures, and situational awareness.

Assess trainees’ navigation competence and decision-making skills.

Ensure training aligns with maritime operational standards and best practices.
