Job Summary
The Warehouse Assistant supports the day-to-day warehouse operations of the Medical Supply Chain by receiving, storing, picking, packing and issuing medical supplies. The role is responsible for carrying out assigned warehouse tasks accurately, maintaining proper documentation and stock arrangement, and complying with established safety, inventory and handling procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming supplies and check the quantity and physical condition against the relevant delivery documents.
- Store, label and arrange medical supplies in the correct locations, following the required stock-rotation method, including First-Expiry, First-Out (FEFO), where applicable.
- Pick, pack and prepare items for issuance, dispatch or collection based on approved documents.
- Record stock receipts, issues, returns and movements in the relevant forms or inventory system.
- Assist in receiving returned items and report any shortage, damage, discrepancy, expiry issue or unsuitable stock to the supervisor.
- Assist with physical stock counts and report differences between the physical stock and inventory records.
- Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness and safety of the warehouse and handle all supplies according to established procedures.
- Perform other warehouse-related duties assigned by the supervisor that are appropriate to the position.
Skills & Job Requirement
- Basic understanding of warehouse, storekeeping or inventory activities.
- Able to read and follow pick slips, item labels, stock records and work instructions.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Able to enter and retrieve information from an inventory or warehouse management system.
- Able to count and check stock accurately.
- Careful and attentive when handling medical supplies.
- Able to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Able to communicate basic operational issues clearly to the supervisor.
- Physically able to carry out warehouse duties, including standing, packing, lifting and moving items within the permitted safety limits.
- Willing to work outside normal working hours, including weekends or public holidays, when operationally required.
Education
- Minimum GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in warehouse, storekeeping, logistics or inventory operations is an advantage.
- Experience handling medical supplies is an advantage.
- Relevant certification, such as forklift operation, is an advantage where required for the role
