Job Title:  Assistant Engineer (Sail-making)

Muara Maritime Services Sdn Bhd (“MMS”) is a joint venture company responsible for providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services (MRO) to Royal Brunei Navy (“RBN”) vessels and dockyard infrastructure. We are looking for highly motivated and suitably qualified Bruneian professionals to fill the following positions:

Job Summary

Perform sailmaking ie. production of canvas covers, eye splice and flag ropes for all RBN vessels as primary duty. Produce quality and maximum efficiency in work done by adapting correct techniques and usage of tools and equipment.

Job Description

· Design and manufacture canvas cover of certain equipments for all RBN vessels.

· Perform rope splicing and manufacture eye splice on RBN vessels’ berthing ropes.

· Replace and repair flag ropes and safety nets for all RBN vessels, within and outside Muara Naval Base.

· Seek assistance from Head of Department for any shortcomings which may affect efficiency of the section and to propose solutions for any problems.

· Responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to assure personnel safety.

· Perform secondary duties within Shipyard Services when required ie. rigging & banksman

EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE

· Minimum of National Diploma or equivalent.

· Having trained in sewing, experienced in operating a Heavy-Duty Sewing Machine or using rope splicing equipment is an advantage.

· Proven ability to work with minimum supervision and capable of multitasking.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and capable of reading technical drawings.

· Willing to work outside of working hours and/or outside of Muara Naval Base if required.

· Able to operate sewing-related machineries such as Heavy-Duty Sewing Machine.

· Able to use rope splicing tools and equipment.

· Observe Occupational Health and Safety

· Must be citizen or permanent resident of Brunei Darussalam
