Job Title:  Locum Radiologist

Job Summary

The Radiologist is responsible for providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services through the interpretation and reporting of a wide range of imaging studies, including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, and image-guided procedures. The role provides expert imaging consultation to referring clinicians, ensures timely communication of critical findings, and delivers accurate and efficient radiology reports in accordance with clinical, regulatory, and organizational standards. The position also supports patient safety through adherence to radiation protection principles, participates in on-call and after-hours coverage, contributes to quality improvement and accreditation activities, and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and imaging service delivery. 

Long DescriptionPrinciples Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, timely, and high-quality interpretation of diagnostic imaging studies, including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, and other modalities as credentialed.
  • Perform and/or supervise interventional radiology procedures in accordance with approved clinical privileges.
  • Provide expert imaging advice to referring clinicians.
  • Ensure prioritization and prompt reporting of emergencies, urgent, and inpatient imaging cases.
  • Participate in on-call, after-hours, weekend, public holiday, and extended duty rosters as required.
  • Communicate critical and unexpected findings promptly to the appropriate clinical teams.
  • Participate in clinical audits, peer review, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in teaching, training, and professional development activities within the department.
  • Contribute to maintaining a professional, collaborative, and respectful working environment.

Professional Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Radiologist in a hospital or accredited healthcare facility.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting a broad range of diagnostic imaging modalities, including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, and MRI.
  • Experience in emergency, on-call, after-hours, and extended duty radiology services.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent medical degree recognized by the relevant medical authority.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Radiology (e.g. Master of Radiology, Fellowship in Radiology, or equivalent).
  • Full registration with the relevant Medical Council.

Specialised Skills/Knowledge/Attribute Requirement

  • Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic imaging principles, techniques, and clinical applications.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety, protection standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with hospital accreditation standards, clinical governance, and quality assurance processes.
  • Knowledge of PACS, RIS, and electronic medical record systems.
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control practices related to radiology services.
  • Ability to apply evidence-based radiology practices and clinical guidelines.
  • Awareness of medico-legal and ethical responsibilities in radiology practice.
