Job Title:  Medical Records & Health Information Executive

Job Summary

Medical Records & Health Information Executive will be responsible for ensuring, monitoring and documentation of all healthcare information in terms of accurateness, appropriateness and completeness in order to meet the hospital standards.

Principles Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the implementation and compliance of all JPMC and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and maintain the quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security of medical records.
  • Collaborate with the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) team to review and assess quality performance, ensuring effective application of quality standards and procedures within the hospital.
  • Implement and maintain clinical coding systems to support accurate processing, analysis, and data compilation.
  • Support the development and review of hospital policies and procedures related to medical records management.
  • Contribute to the compilation and reporting of daily bed census, consultation logs, and other hospital productivity data.
  • Analyze data trends and generate insights from hospital and patient data to inform management decisions, enhance patient care, and optimize hospital operations.
  • Design and develop data dashboards, visualizations, and reporting tools to improve accessibility and understanding of key performance metrics.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy in analytics processes through regular audits and validation checks.
  • Collaborate with the ICT Department to enhance data management systems and streamline reporting processes, improving efficiency in data collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Prepare and submit statistical reports as required by governmental agencies.
  • Extract and retrieve data for evaluation, planning, and research purposes related to health programs and medical investigations.
  • Supervise Medical Records staff in the absence of the Health Information Manager or Medical Records Officer, or as required.

Professional Requirements

A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the Medical Records Department AND Certification in Clinical Coding is preferred.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health information management / Records Management / Public Health / Clinical / Computer Science / Data Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Data Analytics or similar.
  • High National Diploma (HND) in health information management / Records Management / Public Health / Clinical / Computer Science / Mathematics / Data Science / Statistics / Data Analytics or similar AND a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the Medical Records Department AND Certification in Clinical Coding is preferred.

Specialised Skills/Knowledge/Attribute Requirement

  • Knowledge of medical records management, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic coding procedures and practice for the current volume of major internationally recognized classification diseases.
  • Knowledge and skills in database development and management.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
