Job Title:  Mobility Aid Assistant (i-Ready)

Job Summary

  • Responsible for the maintenance, repair and maanegement of mobility aids, such as wheelchars and other assistive devices, used by patients at the Jerudong Park Medical Centre.
  • Ensure that all equipment is safe, functional, and properly maintained, contributing to the overall rehabilitation process.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and provide training to patients and caregivers on the proper use and maintenace of mobility aids.

Principles Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Repair
    • Conduct regular maintenance check on all wheelchair cushions, mobility aids, accessories, and related equipment at rehabilitation department - rehabilitation therapy unit to identify any issues or signs or wear and tear, ensuring they are safe, functional and meet relevent safety standards.
    • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, or structural problems with wheelchair or other mobility aids.
    • Ensure all repair damaged, and worn-out parts, lubricate moving components, and perform other preventive maintenance tasks.
    • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance and repair activities, as well as interactions with clients.

 

  • Installation, Fitting and Inventory Management
    • Work closely with healthcare teams to assess patient needs and ensure mobility aids are appropriately aliged, selected, fitted for the patient's specific needs.
    • Deliver new wheelchairs to clients and ensure they are properly adjusted for the user's comfort and safety.
    • Install additional wheelchar support features or modifications.
    • Perform wheelchair fitting to meet the specific needs of wheelchair users, as requested,
    • Manage inventory of mobility aids, parts, and tools, ensuring timely replenishment and accurate records, while conducting regular check to address discrepensies, and report to focal occupational therapist in charge of wheelchair workshop.

 

  • Patient Support and Training, and Education
    • Provide training and support to wheelchair users and their caregivers on proper usage techniques and maintenance procedures.
    • Support occupational therapy team in providing training for wheelchar-related maintenance and repair to identified trainees and ensure trainees are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to effectivley perform their duties and support individuals with mobility limitations.

 

  • Compliance and Safety
    • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines regarding mobility aid usage, maintenance, and safety.
    • Ensure compliance with relevent health and safety regulations, as well as infection control protocols, to safeguard both patients and staff.
    • Keep abreast of advancements in mobility aid technology, equipment standards, and rehabilitation practices to ensure the department's practices remain current and effective.

Educational Requirements

  • A minimum of Diploma in relevent field.
