Job Summary
- Provides physiotherapeutic assessments of people of all ages with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualized treatment program.
- Hold responsibility for own caseload and be accountable for a defined area of service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision
Principles Duties and Responsibilities
Physiotherapy Assessment & Treatment Planning:
- Ensure the delivery of a coordinated multidisciplinary service and integrate Physiotherapy treatment into the
treatment program including the discussion of patient care, patient progress, and involvement of discharge
planning. - Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients, use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual
assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. - Formulate, deliver and evaluate individual Physiotherapy treatment programs through clinical assessment,
reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice. - Formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive
discharge plans.
Physiotherapy Caseload Management & Communication:
- Accountable in organizing and planning own caseload to meet the service and patient priorities, readjusting
plans as situations change/arise. - Documents information to a patient’s medical record/maintaining accurate and complete records.
- Communicates assessments and updates with members of the healthcare team.
- Assesses patient understanding of treatment proposals, gains valid informed consent and have the capacity to
work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. - Communicates with patients and patients’ families to progress rehabilitation and treatment programs.
- May be required to provide House Call and/or On Call Services to patients to ensure continuous monitoring of
recovery progress. - May be required to cover for other clinical aspects of Physiotherapy other than Neurological, Musculoskeletal
or Orthopedics for e.g., pediatrics, geriatrics, women’s health, palliative care etc. in the event of staff
shortages. - Safekeeping and competent use of all appropriate equipment.
Educational Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy from an institute recognized by the Allied Health Professionals Council of Negara Brunei Darussalam is required.
- A postgraduate degree in Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal/Manipulation or Manual Therapy/Sports) from an
institute recognized by the Allied Health Professionals Council of Negara Brunei Darussalam would be an
advantage.
Professional Requirements
- A minimum of two (2) years Postgraduate Clinical Training and other relevant experience is required.
- Eligible for registration with the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC) of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
- Relevant experience in treating a diverse range of musculoskeletal disorders be it acute or chronic.
- Relevant experience in manual therapy e.g., Maitland’s, Mulligan’s, McKenzie, etc
