Job Title: Physiotherapy Assistant

Job Summary
- Assist in the process of screening and evaluation, and the development and implementation of intervention services under the supervision and guidance of qualified Physiotherapy.
- Supports the provision of all physiotherapy services disciplines in the Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC).
Principles Duties and Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care:
- Assist the Physiotherapists in their assessment of individuals and in the implementation of therapeutic programs.
- Assist the Physiotherapists in the provision of appliances and equipment, as prescribed by the Physiotherapists.
- Develop rapport with patients and their cares as appropriate.
- Use acquired skills and techniques with individuals and groups, as directed by the Physiotherapist.
- Organize and prepare patients for therapeutic interventions/activities, as directed by the Physiotherapist.
- Organize, provide and supervise therapeutic activities, under the direction of the Physiotherapist.
- Modify/adapt individual or group activities to facilitate individuals with reduced physical, sensory, cognitive, and developmental abilities, under the supervision of the Physiotherapist.
- Observe the general performance, behavior and ability of individuals during therapeutic interventions, and records and report these observations to the Physiotherapist as requested.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with assigned Physiotherapist on patient matters to improve communication and assist in developing a treatment plan.
- Coordinate treatment schedules with Physiotherapist and patients.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary team members and other colleagues as appropriate.
- Assist the Physiotherapist in their role in fieldwork education for therapy students and/or other disciplines assigned to the service/department for training, as appropriate and instructed.
- Adhere to professional, ethical, and legal standards of practice.
Professional Requirements
A minimum of at least one (1) year of clinical experience in a hospital or clinical setting is essential.
Educational Requirements
- A minimum of Diploma in Physiotherapy or Diploma in Health Science (Physiotherapy)
Specialised Skills/Knowledge/Attribute Requirement
- Familiar with specific physiotherapeutic treatment techniques on patients including but not limited to walking aid prescription and training, exercise prescription, kinesiotaping, manual therapy techniques and use of electrotherapy equipments.
- Required to perform basic math; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the function of the job include type of disorders; principles and practices of the therapy; and equipment, materials and procedures.
