Unit/Section
Senior Animal Ranger under Little Kingdom Petting Zoo in Playground Department.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities shall include, but not limited to:
- Animal Monitoring – Follow up on incidents and diet charts with supervisors.
- Animal Records – Report any abnormalities in animals to the animal supervisor.
- Daily Reports – Ensure enclosure reports are accurately filled in every day.
- Cleanliness Checks – Complete and verify the station cleanliness checklist every morning and afternoon.
- Enclosure Maintenance – Ensure enclosures are well - maintained and meet welfare standards.
- Enclosure Enrichment – Renew animal enrichment materials monthly and keep proper records.
- Enclosure Improvement – Propose long-term welfare, enrichment, and landscaping improvements.
- Hygiene & Safety Compliance – Ensure all hygiene and safety protocols are followed for both animals and visitors.
- Public Education – Educate visitors about petting zoo animals and their welfare.
- Visitor Engagement – Provide interactive and informative sessions to enhance visitor experience.
- Group Handling – Manage school visits and corporate groups professionally.
- Customer Service – Assist visitors with inquiries and ensure a positive guest experience.
- Scheduling & Rotation – Manage ranger shift rotations, group assignments, and operational initiatives.
- Record-Keeping – Maintain proper documentation of all activities related to animal welfare and operations.
- Team Collaboration – Work effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Working Experience:
- Minimum Diploma in Animal Science, Veterinary Science or Equivalent in Zoology, Animal Management or Widlife-related field.
- Minimum atleast 2 years of experience in zoo, wildlife center or relevant experiences.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Animal Skills - Familiarity with various animlas (Mammals, birds, reptiles, etc.)
- Environment Adaptability - Working outdoors in hot, humid and variable weather conditions.
- Soft Skills & Teamwork - Friendly, approachable and able to communicate well with visitors.
