Job Title:  Assistant Technician - Fire Safety

PURPOSE OF ROLE

To provide fire patrolling and firefighting 24/7 to prevent loss of life and damage to property

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. To deliver an effective firefighting response by 
• Responding promptly to all alarms
• Extinguishing any fires as they arise efficiently
• Using BA, fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, fire blankets    
• Liaising with the fire brigade when called out for alarms/ fires to extinguish larger fires  

2. To provide 24/7 patrolling with 
• Systematic checking of all buildings on a rotational basis to identify smoke
• Verifying that all detection and suppression systems are active 24/7
• Participating in the weekly fire test of all systems 
• Supporting six monthly fire evacuations exercises in liaison with the HR Department
• Checking and resolving any obstructions to egress for fire 
• Supporting the maintenance fire extinguisher and hydrant servicing 
• Liaising and reporting system issues promptly to the fire system engineers

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

1. Education
• No qualification required

2. Experience
• Have firefighting experience (Essential)

3. Physical requirements 
• Physically capable to undertake walking, standing, working outside, at height and in confined spaces
• Hours to suit the business needs, seven days per week, 365 days of the year 

4. Functional Knowledge
• Firefighting 
• Practical knowledge of  fire detection and suppression systems 
• Excellent understanding health and safety legislation
