Job Description
- Manage the internal audit function and is the main liaison with the Audit Committee and Board
- Develop audit plan and strategies and advance cooperation with other departments to achieve organizational objectives, identifying operational improvement, and reducing risk exposure through assurance and consulting services
- Responsible for the overall quality assurance of the internal audit activities
- Responsible for the career development of internal audit staff
Job Accountabilities
- Organize, direct and control IA and the work of all internal audit staff
- Develop and execute the annual audit plan and perform duties necessary to achieve the audit objectives and scope
- Communicate information to and from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or Senior Management team relevant to the audit function
- Coordinate and approve IA’s risk assessment of the Company for audit planning purposes
- Evaluate identified departments for compliance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Evaluate the Company’s system of internal control to ensure that it is operating as intended and that it is updated to meet changes in operating conditions
- Verify the existence of company assets and assure that proper safeguards are maintained
- Review the reliability and integrity of financial information and the means used to identify, measure, classify and report such information
- Co-ordinate the internal audit effort with other internal and external assurance and consulting service providers to ensure efficient use of internal audit resources
- Report the results of all audits to the Audit Committee and also keep the CEO informed on results of audit operations
- Follow up and record actions and plans taken by management to correct conditions reported by audit findings
- Determine that actions taken are appropriate for the circumstances or initiate further discussions with appropriate management and staff
- Maintain audit files in electronic or physical form, subject to Company’s document and data retention policy
- Provide consulting services on governance, risk and control related issues of the company as required by the CEO and / or the Executive Committee, subject to adequate safeguards in place to maintain independence or objectivity of internal audit function
- Ensure the internal audit function has the capability to undertake audit and consulting engagements, and by leveraging appropriate expertise where necessary
- Develop and maintain a quality assurance and improvement program to continuously improve the internal audit activity
- Coach and plan career development of internal audit staff
Qualification and Experience
- Degree holder or above in accounting or other relevant business disciplines such as Business, Finance or Economics, with related professional qualification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Chartered Management Accountants (CIMA), Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- Minimum 12 years’ auditing experience in professional firms and/or the internal audit department of commercial organizations, of which at least 5 years in senior managerial level
